NCT (National Childbirth Trust) aims to provide support to all families from the start of pregnancy until their child’s second birthday. NCT has a network of local branches and St Albans and District branch of NCT offers support, information and friendship to new parents and parents-to-be.

Local parents volunteer to organise a weekly Bumps and Babies group, local area coffee mornings and get togethers and other events, such as Strawberry Tea, Cheeky Monkeys Tea Party, Bumps and Babies Festival and Christmas Parties. Our aim is for new and prospective parents to know that there is somewhere to go to meet other parents, make friends and share experiences in the early days of parenting.

We also run our very popular Nearly New Sales two times each year, in spring and autumn, as we know the cost of kitting out your baby or toddler can run into thousands of pounds. Money raised is used by the NCT to support parents locally and nationally.

Branches provide a link between local parents and the national charity so what we hear about parents’ experiences helps NCT to determine which issues to campaign on nationally. Current campaigns focus on perinatal mental health, childcare costs and fair maternity/paternity pay.

We are always looking for people to volunteer if you can spare an hour per week or per month or would like to come to a one-off event, we would love to hear from you.

You do not need to be a member of the NCT to come along to events or access support.
